Who We Are

Stratos Perception is a Houston, Texas based artificial intelligence company focused on solving the fundamental barriers that have limited the safety, reliability, and autonomy of machines operating in the physical world.

 

We develop patented AI technologies and intellectual properties that advance physical intelligence across some of the most consequential engineering domains of this decade, including autonomous robotics, spacecraft navigation, fusion energy, and space infrastructure. Our approach is grounded in physics and mathematics, and our technologies are designed to operate where conventional methods cannot.

 

What We Do

We build the cerebellar intelligence layer that physical AI systems have been missing.

Physical AI, when approximating only the cerebral cortex, leaves a critical sensory gap that limits safe autonomous operation beyond controlled environments. Stratos Perception's patented ACI™ closes that gap, providing physical AI systems the autonomic comprehensive physical inference layer needed for interpreting the continuously changing stochastic real world.

 

We also develop complementary technologies that extend this capability to specific high-value domains, including two-phase flow metering for space thermal management and AI data center cooling, and novel autonomous vehicle control architectures.

Our Roots

Stratos Perception was founded in 2018, but its technical foundations trace to 1993 and direct industry experience with Rockwell International Rocketdyne, manufacturer of the Space Shuttle Main Engine. A 1997 dissertation on neural networks applied to rocket engine failure detection established the core research direction. Subsequent work at Texas A&M University, the Institute for Space and Astronautical Science in Japan, and Los Alamos National Laboratory advanced these ideas over the following decade, contributing foundational concepts to what became ACI™. A NASA SBIR award in 2019 provided the first major institutional validation of the drive for sensing innovation that defines our technology portfolio.

 

Our Technologies

ACI™ (Artificial Cerebellar Intelligence) is a patented methodology that solves the underconstrained parameter estimation problem, enabling physical AI systems to identify hundreds of hidden time-varying physical parameters in real time from minimal sensor data.

The Heterogeneous Flow Interpreter Transducer (HFIT) is a patented machine vision and physics based AI technology developed under NASA SBIR funding, validated on microgravity two-phase flow data, and targeted at thermal management for space systems and next generation AI data center cooling infrastructure.

​

The Contextualized Automated Vehicle Intelligent Controller (CAVIC) is a published AI control architecture that abstracts vehicle perception into layered context states, eliminating the brittleness inherent in perception-direct control approaches.
